What is mount?

All of our framed images, with the exception of the Desktop frame, are available with or without mount.
The term 'mount' refers to a decorative board or matte which is sometimes placed between the frame and the image creating a contrasting border (see Fig. 1 below).

Mount explanation Fig. 1

A mount will also increase the overall size of a framed picture (see Fig. 2 below). It is important to think of the plage where your image will hang when deciding to have mount or not.
You should also consider the your choice of frame carefully. A narrow frame on a large mounted image will look strange, likewise a heavy frame on a small 10"x 8" image will look out of place.

How do you measure image sizes?

How we measure framed images

All of our framed images are measured in the same way whether they are mounted or not.
The measurements we use refer to the size of the actual image and not the overall dimensions of the product (see Fig. 3 below).
In most cases the image extends under the edges of the frame or the mount by a small amount all round (usually no more than 1/8" or 4mm) this enables us to frame and mount the image in the correct way. It also means that the visible dimensions of your picture will be slightly less than those stated as the 'image size'.

How we measure canvases

Our canvas range is quite simply measured in the overall width and height of each canvas (see Fig. 4 below).
All of our dimensions are given in inches please click the following link for a conversion chart

What is a keyline?

A keyline is simply a narrow border aplied directly to the surface of an image.
We often use keylines on our Montage Tile images to better define the space between each image (see Fig. 5 below).

Keyline explanation Fig. 5

One advantage of using a keyline as opposed to a mount is that a keyline is applied directly on to the surface of the image. This gives us much more scope to literally let images 'break-out' of the border (see Fig. 6 below) giving a unique level of depth to your images.
A combination of keylines and a surrounding mount works well, especially on Montage Tile images.

How deep are Citrus canvases?

All of our canvases are 2 inches (5 cm) deep. The chunky canvas looks great in all sizes and gives a totally different effect from any framed image.

Why are all of your measurements in inches?

Whenever we talk about image sizes we use imperial untis rather than metric. The reason for this is simply because photographic prints are still produced in imperial sizes.
To keep things simple, we use inches for all of our measurements. When we pass your images off to our printers and framers we know that you will get exactly what you asked for at your viewing.
If you prefer to use metric measurements we can convert them through to imperial for our printers, alternatively you can use our conversion chart to find the image size that you are after.
It is worth remembering that all of our products are bespoke and can be produced to almost any size.
